Host a Root Beer Float Stand

What you will need:
  • Root Beer

  • Vanilla Ice Cream

  • Whipped Cream

  • Spoons and Straws

  • Cups

  • Signs and flyers

  • A container for donations

Here’s how you do it:

1. Ask your parent or guardian to help you organize your Root Beer float stand. Pick a location - great for front yards, community centers/pools, etc. Just make sure you have proper permission.

2. Get the materials you will need for your stand (Root Beer, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, cups, straws and spoons). See Root Beer Float recipe below.

3. Tell all of your friends and relatives about your stand. Make signs, send out emails and pass out flyers for your event.

4. Set up your stand and open for business! Serve the root beer floats to customers and ask for donations. Be sure to let your customers know you are raising money to help raise awareness about the essential need for flotation when in or near water.

5. Have your parent or guardian write a check or money order for the amount that you raised (please do not send cash through the mail). Send the money to us:

Float it Forward

All proceeds will go to the Float it Forward non-profit organization to purchase and install lifesaver ring buoys on docks and further the awareness about the essential need for flotation when in or near water.

6. Thank everyone who came to your stand and donated.

7. Be proud of your effort to make a difference in raising awareness about the essential need for flotation when in or near water.

8. Send us photos of your event and how much you raised so that we can highlight on our social media.

Root Beer Float Recipe:

Spoon a scoop or two of vanilla ice cream into a tall plastic cup. Slowly pour root beer into the glass, allowing the foam to rise and then recede before adding more root beer. Top with whipped cream.

Serve with straws and spoons.
